Soul Searching... or Poll Searching?

After voting against an expansion of federal funding for stem-cell research last year, Weldon reversed-himself this year and made a hollow vote to override Bush's veto.

According to the Delco Times a Weldon spokesman (not Weldon himself) said that Weldon "changed his mind after hearing from medical researchers and constituents".

Well, the medical researchers and constituents have the same opinions they had last year (and the year before that). Weldon didn't listen to them until he checked the recent polls and began searching for ways to pretend he hasn't been a Bush cheerleader and enabler these past six years.

It has been known for YEARS that the existing federal stem-cell lines were contaminated and less useful than Bush originally pronounced them.

Before Weldon voted, it was already known that the override wouldn't pass. Weldon's vote had no real purpose beyond a feeble attempt at political cover of his support for the Bush adminstration and its flawed policies.

Weldon's spokesman claimed (that Weldon claimed) that it was one of the hardest decisions Weldon's made in 19 years in the House.
Really? One of the hardest decisions?

Was it harder than...
  • Senting boys into Iraq without adequate body armor, or even a plan?
  • Harder than voting against minimum wage increases that would help millions in poverty?
  • Harder than making prescription drugs less affordable?
  • Harder than voting for a tax break for the richest one-percent?
  • Harder than voting for flawed Economic, Engery and Education policies?
  • Harder than voting to write discrimination into the Constitution?
  • Harder than planning a secret hunt/photo-op for buried WMD?
  • Harder than taking money from Abramoff?
  • Harder than embracing terrorist Quaddafi as a "role model"?
  • Harder than voting against Terri Schiavo's husband's right to end his wife's suffering?
  • Harder than campaigning for Bush in 2000 and 2004?

Really, Curt? Harder than all that?

Curt, it seems like you've worked too hard and are in need of a LONG rest.

Fortunately, an energetic, young Admiral recently retired from the Navy and is more than happy to relieve you of duty.

Joe Sestak was probably the least credible officer I have had the pleasure of serving with. His antics included a YELLOW RUBBER DUCKY that he would have people take pictures with, jumping back on a helicopter to run a search and rescue (not his expertise), keeping officers waiting for upwards of 4 hours to brief him on the basics that he should have learned 15 years ago(at least), and ignoring his door being banged on because he was sleeping during combat operations. Do you want Joe Sestak sleeping on the job in Pennsylvania? I don't!
PS-The blogmasters of this website delete my comments because they do not want you to hear the truth of the fallen Admiral.

Hey, Jet JockStrap-

Can you explain WHAT your post has to do with Weldon's flip-flop vote on stem cells?

If you Weldon operatives learned to actually read, you might seem less irrelevant.

jetjock 409 is correct. I have heard rumors like these about Sestak's millitary leadership many times. Not only that, he already has been through two campaign spokesmen, and numerous other campaign staff have quit. If this guy can't even manage his campaign staff correctly, how could he possibly manage the needs of the people of the 7th district?

Allegations of Weldon's poor voting record still hasn't been responded to. Republican's can never really own up to their boys' mistakes can they?

What exactly is a "hollow vote "?

I thought they could only vote for or against.

Sounds like a really bad attempt to make someone look like they had a gun to their head whn voting.

I guess Republicans can own up, it is the liberals you need to watch out for....hollow vote my as*

How classy. Sestak's yellow ducky is a tribute to his daughter... who has cancer. I'm willing to listen to people, but when you make a comment like that, you lose any and all credibility.

Heartless.

I assume if Sestak wins he will only stay for one single term otherwise doesn't he become a dreaded career politician himself and loses the title of Progressive Patriot?

Cry me a river about Sestak's daughter, that is the biggest sob story to get free votes from people in the 7th district.

I wouldn't care if Sestak sleeps the entire term. He won't do the damage Weldon and his ilk have done. Can you say TERM LIMITS????

Can Ted Kennedy and John Kerry say term limits? Sestak is a "One issue wonder" but he is a Democrat and to some that is all that matters, qualifications have no meaning.

The stock market is at an all time high. The world is awash in liquidity. While socialist Europe is faltering economically, America surges forward. Housing prices are evening out. Tax-cuts are bringing it greater federal revenues. The Republicans control the House, Senate, majority of Governorships, and now the Executive and Judicial branches. Coincidence? I think not. The Dems have only pie-in-the-sky ideas, all beholdent to special interests. The Republicans continue to be the party for America, by Americans. Want proof? Just look at an electoral map by county for the last presidential race. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/vote2004/countymap.htm And you'll see why the Dems want to do away with the Electoral College....so they can ignore small-town America and only focus on big-city, Euro-wannabe issues.
