Wow, I just saw this. I was especially moved when Joe Sestak said he started teaching his child Chinese at the age of 2. I guess he figures after all of the transfer of sensitive military technology from U.S. companies to the Chinese military that he allowd to happen as Director of Defense Policy at the White House, his daughter had better be prepared for China as a world dominating power.

But he had a good reason to allow that to happen. Campaign contributions to the Democratic Party from defense companies like Loral. Its all documented in the bipartisan Cox Commission Report. Every one of those damaging incidents ocurred on Sestak's Watch. He should be ashamed of himself for selling out his country like that.

This looks like the writing of "AbleDanger," the Weldon blogger who said almost the exact same thing in a post a month ago. I normally don't feed the trolls, but let's just say a few things.

1) Learning any language should never be ridiculed.
2) Haven't the Weldonites learned to stop using Joe's pre-school-aged daughter as a political football?
3) I've read the "article" that this is based on, and I notice it doesn't actually say anything about Sestak. It's a really lame inference.
4) Don't even get us started on the potential for selling out home and hearth to foreign interests. That is Weldon's special gift!

Really, you Able Danger guys are trying to corner the market on whacked out conspiracy theories. You're perfect for Curt!

Dear Pen Pal-

But Weldon should not be ashamed for selling his influence to Russian energy interests, Big Oil and the pharmaceutical companies? It's funny that an anonymous Weldon campaign staffer should bring up the subject of daughters, considering how Weldon's daughters got their jobs with lobbyist friends of Weldon.

So, it's bad to take contributions from Loral, but not from Boeing or Jack Abramoff? Interesting. Hypocritical... but interesting.

Let's see, what happened on Weldon's Watch:
-- He voted for a War in Iraq that has diverted resources from the "War on Terror", destabilized the Mid-East and become a catalyst for even more terror.
-- He voted against increasing the health-care budget for Veterans.
-- He voted for irresponsible tax-cuts for the wealthiest 1%, while over 40 million Americans continue to live in poverty.
-- He voted to keep drug costs higher by preventing the US government from negotiating prices with the pharmaceutical companies.
-- He campaigned to help elect George Bush in 2004.(There should be some political price to pay for that.)

So, now, Sestak is to blame for the Chinese getting US military technology? In all the years of Republican political hacks blaming Clinton, you guys are the first to blame Sestak.
You can search the Cox Commission Report here. Sestak is not mentoned in the report at all. So, you are blaming Sestak, claiming it is documented in a report that doesn't even mention his name. Amazing. Disingenuous.... but amazing.

This is the kind of logic and outright dishonesty that is keeping us bogged down in Iraq waiting to be greeted as liberators and has Weldon planning treasure hunts for WMD's that don't exist.

I guess the Weldon campaign is using some trickle-down theory of brain-power, where Bush and Weldon are the intellectual giants the supporters aspire to become. Admittedly, the only evidence I have for this is the weak, ineffectual, sad and pathetic arguments they make on the campaign trail and the blogs.

Curt needs to hire better shills. He's not getting his money's worth from you guys.

Write back soon.

Love,
David

I'm sorry, was or was not Setak Director of Defense Policy at the National Security Council when all of this went on? Are you meaning to tell me he had no say in relaxing exports on military sensitive technologies? Did the Administration relax export controls on the export of military satellite technology -- a supposed expertise of Sestak -- without even bothering to run it by the Director of Defense Policy, Joe Sestak? Who's being disingenuous here?

I can't fathom how Joe had such an important role -- after all, he just claimed to be reposnible for the Adminsitration's engagement policy (yet I never read any news articles associating him with that) -- yet isn't repsonsible for any of the national security failures that occurred on his watch.

A Silent Watchdog indeed.

I'm glad to see that the anonymous Councilman Puppio is back on the blog writing again--missed him for a while.
Anyhow, it seems to me that even if you follow anonymous Councilman Puppio's logic, my understanding is that the weapons and technology that allegedly went out at that time was involved the Russians --isn't that special agent Weldon's area of supposed expertise? Guess Weldon couldn't use all of his expertise--Russian relations and all the taxpayer funded Russian trips to stop the Russians from arming the rest of the world? If Weldon cannot do that, then what does Weldon actually do that is beneficial to the taxpayer because I have no seen it yet. The photo-op wiht the FTA was a sham--he's is supposed to get those things--doesn't make him a great congressman--has anyone checked to see if he secured more or less such funding than any other congressman? Look Curt's running to save his political life, his family's business as lobbyists, and to ensure that the Bush Administration and state and COunty Republicans continue to have a firm grip on the flow of money. I'm tired of them. I'm tired of him. Is it November yet? I think we are all ready to vote fopr Joe.

You undertsanding is wrong. The exports that went out was U.S. technology to China. This was to the benefit of big-time DNC and Democratic contributors like Loral.

Similar thing with the export of U.S. encryption technologies (to help encode communications) and supercomputers (for simulating nuclear weapons explosions, enhancing China's nuclear weapons program). There were relaxations of U>s. exports to china to the benefit of the Chinese military in exchange for campaign contributions.

The largest sellout of American national security happened on Sestak's watch as Director of Defense Policy at the White House and he just stood by and let it happen.

Again, read the bipartisan Cox Report to read all about what went down when Sestak was manning the gate.

Bot surprising, as one mnavy captain noted that Joe puts his own interest above the Navy and that of the country. His interests, in this case, seem to be keeping mum and watching this happen. Otherwise, it may have cost him a promotion.

Oh, and I sincerely doubt Councilman Puppio even looks at this nonsensical crap you guys post nor knows it exists. But if it makes you feel more important to think you're engaging with him, then more power to you.

Kind of sad (and funny) now that I think about it. I guess whatever it takes for you to get out of bed in the morning.

If all of this selling out occurred, where was congressional oversight? Was Curt in Russia, North Korea of Libya? Or was he meeting with somebody else not doing anything beneficial for the taxpayer. Perhaps he was securing clients for his daughter and Charlie Sexton? Anyway, enough. let's talk issues. Where was Weldon when Boeing took the retirees healthcare?

Jeez, you keep digging a bigger and bigger hole for yourself don't you. I guess that's understandable since you don't have any concept of the issue at hand.

Umm, Curt served on the bipartisan Cox Committee that exposed all of this nonsense that occurred on Sestak's watch. 5 Republicans and 5 Democrats. They all agreed that the damage to American national security was devastating. Unfortunately, Curt wasn't a member of the Administration to be able to put a stop to this nonsense, a position Sestak was clearly in. If Weldon was there, you can be sure he would have spoken out.

Anonymous Weldon Staffer-
The Cox Report does not even mention Sestak, let alone imply that he was assigned to man this particular gate. According to the Cox Report's Appendix, the questioning of government witnesses concentrated on the departments of Defense and Commerce. If Sestak really was part of the chain, why wasn't he called as a witness by the committee?

Curt Weldon was actually a member of the Cox Report Select Committee (surprise!). If Sestak was really such a key player, then why didn't Curt Weldon call him as a witness or ask any witnesses about him? Was Weldon engaging in a cover-up to protect Sestak? If Weldon really thought Sestak was responsible, why did Weldon wait until Sestak chose to run against him to bring up this issue? (Answer: because Weldon prefers smears to facts)

Why did Weldon and the rest of the committee look at Defense and Commerce departments and never mention Sestak? (Answer: because Sestak had nothing to do with it)

How desperate is the Weldon camp to misrepresent a report from a committee Weldon was a part of? (Answer: pretty desperate)

Funniest "anonymous" line: "sincerely doubt Councilman Puppio even looks at this nonsensical crap you guys post nor knows it exists"
First, piss-poor of a campaign manager he is, even Puppio can't be that ignorant of a key local blog that is getting lots of traffic.
Second, the posts against Sestak are clearly directed by the campaign in a concerted (but ineffectual) effort.
Third, the attacks are talking points for the Weldon campaign's attempts to swift-boat Sestak.
Fourth, Puppio is puppio-ing his pants over all the attention we are getting pointing out Weldon's many shortcomings.

As for Puppio doing the actual posting, I tend to doubt that Puppio can spell blog, let alone successfully post to this one. No, I suspect that the little Weldon minions come crying over to him asking what to say and then dutifully type in the latest slander.

BTW, I'm not engaging Puppio. I'm entertaining Sestak supporters. (You are too, but you just don't realize it.)

I would suggest that Weldon and Puppio hire some staffers with high-school educations and proof-read their posts for spelling and grammar. Oh, wait... that would violate the GOP brain-power trickle-down theory by having educated staffers at the bottom rungs. Nevermind. Proceed as you were.

Lest "anonymous" take offense at being being lumped in with Weldon's mindless minions, he can offer some counter-argument by revealing his identity or issuing a full denial that he is a Weldon or County GOP staffer. (I won't hold my breath.)

Nice going on your Chinese missile swift-boating. Debunked in one day.

What's your next attack? Sestak, Coke or Pepsi: Why is he hiding his beverage preference?

According to Sestak's website, as
Director for Defense Policy at the White House, he was responsible for national security and defense strategy, policies, programs, blah blah blah.

So, if he was responsible for national security policies, wouldn't that make him responsible for the transfer of technology to China too? Doesn't that have some sort of national security implications?

As Sestak's own website states, this was his responsibility. And he allowed it to happen without even a peep of protest.

Your so called debunk, debunked in two minutes.

Re-bunking your debunking of my debunking....

I just read over the some of the conclusions of the Cox Report:

1) As I previously stated, the Cox report DOES NOT even mention Sestak. If these incidents had been under his department, he would have called before the commission. The Defense and Commerce departments bore the responsibility. The report singled out Defense Department monitors for lax security standards.

2) The Cox Commission report concluded that PRC [People's Republic of China] had successfully penentrated our Nation Laboraties since the late 1970s. Yep, during the fun-filled 1980s, the Reagan, Bush years with Cheney and Rumsfeld.
"The Reagan adminstration's decision to permit launches in the PRC was affected by tow factors: insufficient domestic launch options in the aftermath of the Challenger disaster, and the perception of the PRC as a strategic balance against the Soviet Union in the context of the Cold War. These factors are no longer applicable today."

3) The problem with Loral centered around them using engineering techniques to investigate the failures of Chinese guidance systems for civilian/commercial satellite launches. This information was also useful to China for it's military missile guidance as well. So, basically, Loral was so over-eager to please its Chinese customer that it acted irresponsibly and gave away technology that had dual military use. Loral was aware of but failed to get the proper State Department license required to provide such detailed assistance related to guidance systems.

4) Practically any good technology we have can be exploiting by Chinese military including metalurgy, precision drilling and cutting, etc. The Cox report lays out many technologies useful to China, even including weather analysis.

So, somehow Weldon's story is that when Sestak entered the White House, he magically became responsible for the previous 20 years of successful spying by China. You Weldon supporters must have had a pretty sad childhood bedtime stories if you think anyone's going to buy this crap-fest. It seems a more relevant story would be: The Congressman Who Cried Wolf.

The Weldon campaign is attempting (and rather poorly) to draw a connection between Loral's activities years ago that did not involved Sestak and donations Loral currently made this election cycle.

Loral is still a leading satellite communications company and defense contractor in good standing in this country.

Why would Loral support Sestak over Weldon? Maybe they want to get rid of a Boeing corporate shill like Weldon. I know I do.
