Sestak blasts Weldon for New Orleans / Katrina failures
Joe Sestak minced no words yesterday as he blasted Curt Weldon for his part of another one of the Bush / Republican Congress failures - the lack of preparedness and poor reponse to Hurricane Katrina.
From the Delco Times Aug. 30:
Sorry New Orleans, and Mississippi, and other areas hit by Katrina.
Bush gave the money back to his campaign contributors. And Weldon helped him do it.
From the Delco Times Aug. 30:
"The oversight responsibility of Congress is not being done," said Sestak
...
Sestak blamed Weldon and the Bush administration for failing to prepare for one of the worst natural disasters in American history.
...
Sestak cited recent reports detailing billions of dollars worth of no-bid contracts awarded after Katrina. He criticized the Republican-controlled Congress for wasting money in Iraq that could be used to bolster the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"I believe we have our priorities wrong," he said, describing how the equivalent of FEMA’s annual budget is spent within weeks in Iraq.
Former FEMA director Michael Brown said Tuesday that the Bush administration "would not give me the money" for catastrophic planning.
Sorry New Orleans, and Mississippi, and other areas hit by Katrina.
Bush gave the money back to his campaign contributors. And Weldon helped him do it.

Sestak is nothing more than a carpetbagger.
If we want to win and retire Curt, we have to stop Joe from opening his mouth, just parade him around in his uniform and hope we can pick off enough Repubs.
Agreed,Joe is going to sink his own ship if he's not carefull and he's a Navy man!
Maybe Mr. Wayne Weldon should take that advise (without the uniform of course.) Perhaps if Wayne could go 5 minutes without making an complete ass of himself, Puppio could stop stealing money from the taxpayers of Delaware County.
Everyone knows the real carpetbagger here is Weldon. He's spent more time in Moscow than Marcus Hook in the last 10 years. When he does come to town, its only to visit his favorite constituent Miss Cece Grimes. Oops, don't tell Mary!
I do not think Curt is right for the district, but we do no really need to get down and dirty and discuss his personal life. There's enough ammo wihtout going there.....
As for the Joe bashers, he's a breath of fresh air, and we should embrace it after twenty years of stagnation.
November is coming quickly enough, let's keep it clean so we can better savor the win.
For us to beat Weldon we must keep it clean or he might get voter sympathy,I know Joe is no rocket scientist, but he's our best chance in years.
OK, so the new Puppio "strategery" here is to post witty little anonymous comments and pretend to be a Dem saying critical things about Joe.
Wow, he sure fooled me.
What a dope.
Puppio is at it again,so Joe isn't the smartest guy around,we already know that, but he's still going to win.
Joe isn't the smartest guy?
Um.. he graduated top in his class at the Naval Academy. Seems like he was one of the smartest guys there.
In a room with Sestak, Weldon, Puppio, an anonymous Weldon blogger and a tree stump, Sestak and the tree stump come in first and second (respectively).
I do think it's pretty funny having the Weldon staffers come in here and essentially "promote" Joe as evil, but the lesser of two evils.
They're really clutching at straws now.
Q.What's the difference between Weldon and a tree stump?
A.The tree stump hasn't been to Russia 437 times in the last five years.
Q.What's the difference between Puppio and Anonymous Weldon Blogger?
A. Um, nothing.
David...

You failed to mention that he also holds a Ph.D. from Harvard.
Re: carpetbagging
I'm paraphrasing something I heard elsewhere, but I think it's worth repeating: Think about a congressman nominating a young man or woman for a service academy. But as they shake hands, the congressman says something like: "Make us proud. But don't ever come back home, or I'll call you a carpetbagger."
What the hell kind of message is that to send?
Q.What's the difference Weldon and Sestak A. Weldon never got reassigned for a "bad command climate" (Navy Times 2005).
P.S. Did Joe give back Sandy Bergers donation yet?
Here's a difference between Weldon and Sestak.
~waving to puppio and the other weldon-backed swift-boaters...~
Sestak will be our Congressman next year, and Weldon will be relieved of duty for a bad voting record and bad judgement.
Mikey, you coward, how can you question Admiral Sestak's command climate. While the Admiral was protecting you and this nation, you were trying to protect child abusers as a trial attorney. Stop embarressing yourself Mikey.
The Navy questioned Sestak's command climate.
If by the Navy you mean the Rumsfield repubicans, then you're right. The true poor command climate has come from the oval office. Altough, Bush still does have a few people who he can lead. Just check 2466 Rayburn!!!
The US Navy reassigned Joe for a bad command climate, the only person you can blame for that is Joe himself.
1) Weldon couldn't get reassigned because he never served in the first place.
2) The voters will reassign Weldon on Nov. 7th
3) In Congress, Sestak wouldn't be in command of anything, anyway; so, why would this even be relevant.
4) Joe is on record as being opposed to the War in Iraq from the beginning. The Bush administration has not rewarded anyone that opposed the war or their ideology.
5) Is Weldon going to give back the money he got from the pharmaceutical industry for selling his vote and putting vital medicine out of the price range of many seniors?
The relevance is it shows Joe's leadership abilities and if he opposed the war from the beginning why didn't he resign then.Weldon should give back the drug company money and fight for affordable health care for all.
Politics trumps all in the Bush Administration, even in the military:
-- Sestak was a Vern Clark officer;
-- Vern Clark was appointed CNO by Clinton;
-- When Bush appointed Mike Mullen to succeed Clark, Sestak was the first to go.
"Command climate" was Bushspeak for "political support."
There are a lot of military people that opposed the war (or at least questioned it) but stayed to provide their expertise and to prevent it from being even worse. Despite opposition to the war, many wanted to give the President the benefit of the doubt. However, we now know that Bush squandered and betrayed that trust.
Bush and Rumsfeld compare opponents of the war to facist supporter in Nazi Germany. With that kind of twitst mentality running the show, there was no avenue for Joe to advocate better policy or ideas.
The best way left to help our troops is to take back Congress and provide proper oversight.
Weldon should give back the money AND go to directly to jail, without passing GO for selling out to the Big pharma monopoly.
What pepole fail to understand when they say Joe should have just resigned when he was against the war, in the military, you just can't pack up your toys and go home when you disagree wuth your superior officer--you adapt, improvise and overcome. Also, you cannot just leave the other men and women wiht whom you have served.
