Weldon Adopts Model of Bush, Russia and China Towards Dissent
Weldon prides himself on his supposed expertise in Russia studies. Well, this week he proved that he embraces the totalitarian concept of using the police to intimidate voters that disagree with him.
When Ross Doppelt, an 18 year old Sestak supporter and Delaware County voter, showed up for a Weldon event this week, the Weldon team called the police. Supposedly, Weldon was afraid that Ross might object to some of Weldon remarks, or (gasp!) tape them so that others can learn how out of touch Weldon is with the concerns of the voters in the 7th.
Ross Doppelt is a native Delco resident, born over at Bryn Mawr hospital in 1987. He was a class president at Haverford High School and a Student Representative on Haverford Township's School Board. Formerly a student at Tulane University, Ross was evacuated from New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina, and did volunteer work in the Ninth Ward after he returned.
Well, now I see why Weldon wanted Ross arrested. Young people with leadership skills and active in their communities are dangerous to politicians acting in their own self-interest and against the public welfare.
As many are aware, Weldon's hero, George Bush, abused the Secret Service to eject from speeches any citizens that displayed any form of dissent against Bush or his policies. I guess the political nut doesn't fall far from the neo-con tree.
At an earlier event, Weldon had actually confronted Ross, "ordering" him not to record the Congressman. At this event he questioned Ross, asking where he was from. Just like Bush, Weldon is so insulated from his constituents that he incorrectly assumes a dissenter must be from outside the district.
The irony (or rather hypocrisy) here is that Weldon not only sents protesters to Sestak events, but rude and disruptive ones that shout out false accusations that disrepect not only Sestak's 31 years of honorable military service but the honorable service of all that have worn the uniform of their country.
What types of societies arrest the intellectuals and political dissenters? (hint: the kind we used to speak out against before Bush started violating the Geneva conventions)
It seems that Weldon's campaign slogan should be:
Curt Weldon: Independent Fighter for USSR

The Weldonians are really disgusting. That attitude is why young people do not want to be involved.
The Weldonians obviously stopped trying to include people long ago because those who moved here after the fall of the War Board are not as easy to brainwash. Let's make sure that young man and others like him are not dissuaded by the bullys.
We cannot allow the 7th District to be represented and controlled by such people. The residents here definitely need a new direction and a change--bad. Joe's got my vote, and the vote of my family and even some of my Republican firneds who are just as aggravated.
November is just around the corner--and so is January.
This post and story is a bunch of utter crap. I was at the doctors event where Weldon was endorsed by doctors -- becuase Sestak's in the pocket of trial lawyers -- and Weldon went up the the intern, kindly introduced himself and told him he was welcome to stay as his guest. At no point did Weldon tell him not to audio record the event, although I believe one of the doctors made a blanket request at the beginning of the event to everyone in attendance.
On to yesterday's event. The Weldon campaign received word that moveon.org may be planning to disrrupt the event through unknown means and local police were asked, in advance of the event, if they might drive by at some point just to ensure that no problems occurred between Weldon supportes and potentially unruly moveon.org members.
If the police said anything to the intern, it was of their own volition, unprompted by any member of the Weldon staff. I find it disgusting that the Sestak campaign would use an 18 year old to try to smear the Weldon camp in such a way, especially on such unfound charges. And I'm disappointed that the 18 year old would allow himself to be used as a pawn in this manner, especially given the respect Weldon has personally shown him. Where is the honor in that?
This was the third time this intern has been at a Weldon event in the past week and he has never been asked to leave and has been treated by our campaign staff with courtesy and respect. That's more than I can say about how Weldon staff has been treated when they attempted to attend Sestak events at his campaign headquarters.
Great leadership skills this kid is getting. He's learning how to lie, cheat, spin, and distort situations to score political points.
I guess if he's going to learn, he might as well learn from the best. Thanks for taking America's children under your wing Joe!

Three points here:
1) "our campaign staff" instead of "his campaign staff" clearly identifies you as a member of the campaign. Please post under your real name and campaign title.
2) I would consider Sestak's campaign headquarters to be private property. I would consider Sestak or Weldon perfectly within their rights to eject protesters from events inside their own headquarters.
3) The Delco Republicans are notorious for using the police to quell political activity by Democrats. Over the years, they have been called out to harass people canvassing local neighborhoods, only to back away when canvassers stood up for their rights.
If Weldon can't take the heat, he should stop cooking up bad policies.
Weldon is just all that's bad about politics in this area and he needs to go!
But I'll bet this latest egregious incident is just one more in a series...of stuff Weldon's already pulled...to more dirty tricks he will play as this campaign intensifies.
The best part is that the people of this area have seen enough and all this negative campaigning will hurt Weldon badly.
It's good to know that the Weldon campaign is nervous enough that it monitors your blog and takes the time to post rather lenghty responses.
Keep up the good work guys.
Anonymous-
Of course the Weldonians (Weldonites Weldocrats, Weldonies???) are posting. I just wish they had to balls to post under their campaign titles. There is nothing wrong with an official or unofficial response from the staff (they are the ones posting anyway).
They may falsely believe that an official response would validate the blog, but they are not fooling anyone by posting anonymously. It makes them look that much more cowardly.
Well, the campaign staff doesn't fall far from the chickhawk candidate.
