If Weldon's the local boy, why can't he raise money from people who live here?

We'll have to wait until we can get ahold of the detailed 9/30 filings, but I had to chuckle when the Weldon camp insinuated that Sestak was raising a disproportionate amount of cash from outside sources.

When I looked back at the 6/30 filings, the numbers told the real story. Curt Weldon had raised only 25% of his funds from Pennsylvania. Over 40% of his money came from special interest groups and PACs.

At the time, over 80% of Joe's funds came from individuals. According to the recent Delco Times story, Sestak's filings for the thrid quarter will show that 56% of contributions to the campaign came from in-state, which is really saying something given the number of netroots donors he also has.

most of Joe's netroots support comes from local blogs, philly-based blogs, or nat'l blogs run by bloggers who live around here. I would guess that a lot of his contributions come from local readers of those blogs, so his netroots support IS local.

I agree! I'm an actblue donor, a blogger, and I live in this district. And I could rattle off a list of my friends and acquaintances who have donated amounts, large and small, to the Sestak campaign.

The Philly-metro netroots scene is one of the most vibrant in the nation, with Bowers and Atrios both in the area, not to mention the constellation of smaller order bloggers and diarists.

I hope to be of assistance with at least one vote (mine) but I've been lobbying friends that still live in the district and may have made some inroads. They are mostly moderate Republicans.

I've been having my own struggles with my absentee ballot (documented here and here. Headed in the right direction I hope!
