Is Weldon still a Republican? Or just ashamed of being one?

A recent Suburban Guerrilla post asking why Weldon has no elephants on his signs anymore. He has no mention on his website's home page or on his About Curt that he is a Republican. And his signs and website say "Independent Fighter for US".

So my question is: "Is Weldon that ashamed of being a Republican now?"

If so, that may be one of the few things he's right about.

If he wanted to be independent, why did he vote with Bush and the GOP almost all the time?

Weldon can change his signs and his slogan, but he can't go back and change his voting record!

I live in the 7th. Who is the "US" Weldon's been fighting for? It has not been me.

I think it is a typo. It think he's a fighter for USSR. Specifically, Itera, an energy monopoly.

He's fighting for US (underlined!), as opposed to THEM. I'm sure that it's a coded message, and that most little-u us are not included in the "US" Curt's talking about.

Sestak is a piece of crap! He was selected by the Ultra Liberals to run against Curt and didn't even live in PA.. But the Dem's said, Don't worry Joe, we will move you back to PA. He was also asked to resign from the Navy - Bad Officer!!

Ya know, I hate censorship. But in the troll case above, which is nothing but anger and lies, I wouldn't mind at all seeing that steaming pile deleted.

Then again, maybe it's a good example of what kind of support Weldon is being left with.

After Iraq, after Foley, after job losses in Delco, after supporting Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld, after funneling money to his kids and cronies, after phantom WMDs and phony Able Danger charges, after countless trips to Russia, Korea and Libya (and none to many parts of the 7th District), it's all they have left to use: Lies and Anger.

That's Curt's campaign: Running on Empty.

You miss the point. The neocons running the GOP are not "Republicans". They are right-wing radicals that promote torture, higher deficits, and police-state powers and a disasterous foreign policy.
As Bill Clinton put it recently, "I wouldn't insult Republicans by saying the people running the government are Republicans."

Curt Weldon has supported the failed policies of the GOP leadership and is running away from his association as a member of the GOP because of the taint it carries. However, it has that taint because of Weldon's votes and support.
I think the neocon GOP needs a different symbol: An elephant stepping on the Constitution

I wouldn't insult Democrats either by saying the people running them are Democrats.E.g.-Dean,Pelosi,etc.

That's wouldn't be an insult. It would be a compliment.

There's no center for you ,Dave ,tilting a little far too the left for the 7th.

Actually, the 7th has tilted so far to the right (i.e. the wrong) that a central position appears to be tilted to the left.

Dean pioneered grass-roots internet fundraising with small donations to give ordinary people more of a voice over the kinds of corporations to which Weldon and his ilk have sold out.

Pelosi (and a few hundred millions others) would like to see Rice, Rumsfeld and Gonzales testify under oath for a change.

Yeah, I guess accountability is a left-leaning issue (not like we are seeing much from the GOP).

Truth is that Dean and Pelosi have drawn a line in the sand against further domination of politics by a single party. They have stood up and given voice to the 50% of us with no say under the current government. They have rejected torture, illegal wiretaps, police state powers, and other irresponsible policies.

I was a resident of the 7th district all my life, until my town was gerrymandered by the GOP PA legislature in 2002 and moved to the 6th district. I do know that all that matters to Curt Weldon, Charlie Sexton and the rest of the Republican leaders is - patronage, special favors, nepotism and oh yes, votes, votes and more votes. I am proud of the fact that I voted for Bob Edgar, even when I was a registered Republican. It's time again for a change in the 7th.
