New independent poll: Sestak up by 8!
A hearty thank you goes out to the thousands who have supported the Sestak campaign so far. All of those doantions of time and money are working. The latest evidence is the new Majority Watch poll results from Opinion Dynamics. They show Joe Sestak leading among likely voters 52%-44%. This is a sign that the message is getting out there. That's hard to do against an entrenched incumbent in an expensive media market.
It's especially worth noting that the Majority Watch results are based on a larger sample size (over 1000 respondants, +/-3%) than other recent polls have used. Methodology and crosstabs are publicly available.
Of the respondants, 49% considered themselves Republicans, and only 31% considered themselves Democrats. Sestak is pulling over a quarter of the Republican vote, while Weldon has virtually no traction among Democrats. (8% are firm Weldon supporters.) Sestak is also crushing Weldon with Independents, 57%-30%.
There's a notable gender gap. While Sestak's lead over Weldon among men is inside the margin of error--essentially even--but Sestak is preferred by women: 52%-44% among the decided voters.
Hey, there's a reason you're supposed to take mom's advice.
Of course, the only poll that matters is the one on election day. So let's keep up the pressure and make sure that Sestak comes out on top November 7th.

Thats a pretty small percentage of senior citizens, I wonder where their vote will go? I also wonder how many of those polled are likely voters?
I don't get your drift. This was a poll of likely voters. The process by which likely voters are identified is where a lot of the art of election polling lies, but if you look at the crosstabs, I don't think that you could conclude that the demographics were skewed.
The poll uses weighting to attempt to approximate the demographic makeup of the district and the likelihood of voting.
So, Moms are more enlightened.....
Reminds me of a line from my oldest son - when he did something goofy one day - and I asked "Why?"
His response was, "Mom, can't you see? I am full of Y's. Chromosomes - get it?"
Actually, he is an intelligent, sweet, honorable guy, and would vote for Joe if he were old enough.
Thanks for the update.
The only poll that counts is on November 7th. Time to keep working.
Has anyone wondered why Warmly Joe retired with three stars (VADM) on his collar but only receives two star (RADM) retirment pay? That's because he was FIRED by the current CNO. Reason: Poor Command Climate. It is almost heard of that a Flag Officer in today's military is releived of such an offense while on staff duty. If you were going to "hire" someone wouldn't you want a reference from his or her previous boss. In this case, I would have to pass and go with the next applicant!
Anon--
Go back to drink some more of the Cool Aid. Admiral Sestak fully explained his posisition on that, you have just chosen not to listen. Once you are confirmed by the Senate as 3 star Admiral, it cannot be taken away by "being demoted." everyone knows that Admiral Sestak chose to retire from the military after 31 years and to do that, you needed to take a reduction in rank. Check into you story before you "swift-boat."
